Turning great ideas and plans into reality requires funds to to get the job done. The Erie Canalway offers references for grant opportunities and limited funding for projects that help to achieve the goals set forth in our Preservation and Management Plan.
2010 Festival and Event Sponsorships
Canal-related festivals and events draw more than two million visitors to the National Heritage Corridor each year. To give events a boost in a tight economy, the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission is sponsoring 13 local events in the amount of $500. In addition, four Corridor-wide events will benefit from event sponsorships in 2010.

Erie Canalway Pilot Grants Program

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor awarded $200,000 in grants in 2007 to assist canal communities across the state. Thirteen communities received funding to cover projects and programs that protect and celebrate the corridor’s distinctive sense of place, while boosting heritage tourism and recreational opportunities. more >
