Get Involved: Grants and Funding
Turning great ideas and plans into reality requires funds to to get the job done. The Erie Canalway offers references for grant opportunities and limited funding for projects that help to achieve the goals set forth in our Preservation and Management Plan.
 
Festival and Event Sponsorships
Application deadline: March 1, 2010
A limited number of sponsorships in the amount of $500 for events or festivals taking place from May through October 2010 are available from the Erie Canalway. Cultural, heritage, and recreational events that deliver significant tourism and economic benefits to communities, encourage local and regional partnerships, and enhance the quality of life for residents are eligible.

Local Waterfront Revitalization Program Awards Announced
1/12/10- Projects ranging from trail improvements to waterfront revitalization to watershed protection in the Erie Canalway will move forward, thanks to funding from the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. The Department of State announced the awards in late December, including eighteen projects in the Corridor.

Fort Ann Grant Recipients with Big CheckThe Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor awarded $200,000 in grants in 2007 to assist canal communities across the state. Thirteen communities received funding to cover projects and programs that protect and celebrate the corridor’s distinctive sense of place, while boosting heritage tourism and recreational opportunities.
