Lock 4 State Canal Park Includes a picnic area, observation platform at the lock, a canoe launch, and 1.5 mile nature trail. Shale bluffs overlook the Hoosic River as it passes over a series of rapids before entering the Hudson.
New York Bike "9" Cyclists can travel from New York City to the Canadian boarder along New York's Bike "9." It follows Route 4 from Waterford to Whitehall, passing through a number of canal communities along the way.

Lock 2 State Canal Park/Waterford Harbor Visitor Center Facilities for boaters, visitor's center, picnic areas, and interpretive exhibits. Great place to watch boats. Provides a good starting point for cycling day trips along Bike "9" or a shorter trip along a 1.5 mile section of the old Champlain Canal towpath in Waterford. Sunday farmer's market.
Services for boaters include water, showers, electric, and pump-out. Merchandise, phone/computer, free wifi, and information at the dockside Visitor Center.
Whitehall
Lake Champlain The Champlain Canal meets Lake Champlain just beyond Whitehall. Excellent fishing, boating, and sailing opportunities.
Skenesborough Harbor Park offers public boat launch,
picnic area, fishing access, walking paths, gazebo and pavillion for events.
